Wage and Hour Law reports, 1938.

This series consists of reports on the effects of the Wage and Hour Law (Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938) on Ala. workers. The reports were compiled by the Dept. of Labor based on responses from the Alabama State Employment Service. The Dept. of Labor was charged with the responsibility of gathering information for a continuous study of labor conditions in Ala. Each report contains information on plants experiencing closings due to the provisions of the law and the number of workers affected in each area. These records document the effect of New Deal labor legislation on business and labor and reflect Ala. economic conditions in the 1930s.
